Fired: the reality won’t be televised

Fired is an other Italian gold nugget I discovered in the official selection of the next Sicily Webfest (July 21-23). There are only three episodes so far but it’s already a great comedy. Written by Sara Aschelter and Maria Gorini and directed by Federico Malafronte, the story is set in a small supermarket where the boss announces that one of the employees will soon be fired. A journalist documents this suspense with his crew and is the main character of this tale of cruelty and absurdity, a biting study of selfishness and egocentricity. Francesco Montanari acting in this role tends to perfection. All three episodes with English subtitles can be found here.

  1. It’s reaaly excellent! A kind of bitty Italian satire of the modern world. Loved it! Thanks! And I hope it’s gonna win an awrd in Sicily!
